Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
Advance reservations are required. We must arrange in advance with all of our wonderful vendors and it is very difficult to accommodate last minute drop-ins. If a tour has already been removed from the booking list, but you would like to join us, please email or call us to see if we have space and can accommodate your request. Please, no drop-ins.
Can I pay cash for the tickets?
No, tickets must be ordered online through FareHarbor with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit card. Cash is not accepted at meeting locations.
If the tour is sold out, can I get on a waiting list?
Yes. Please email or call us and we will put you on a first-come, first-served basis. You will not hear from us unless a space becomes available. We will do our best to notify you within 72 hours of the day of the tour.
What happens if it rains or snows?
The tours are held rain or shine. Keep in mind that we will be spending time inside many of the establishments on the tour. We will not be outdoors for the entire tour. Please dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions, and prepare for inclement weather. As New England weather can be unpredictable, check the conditions the morning of your scheduled tour.
Is there parking nearby the tour meeting point?
Yes, there is on-street and off-street parking located near our meeting point. Meeting location and specific parking details are included in your confirmation and reminder emails after purchasing tickets.
What types of foods are served on the tour?
The chefs at the restaurants decide what they will be sampling. Typically, it will be a seasonal item and could cover the full menu range from soups to appetizer, salad or a signature item or specialty.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Please let us know if anyone in your group has a dietary restriction or food allergy when you purchase your tickets. We will do our best to be as accommodating as possible with advance notice. If we are not notified about the special request(s) until the day of the tour, it is usually not possible for us to appropriately adjust the food on the tour.
Are any beverages served on the tour?
Our tours include custom cocktails, craft beers, craft ciders and/or wine to accompany many of the tastings. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Please note that you will be carded by our vendors before being served alcohol, so bring your ID if you would like to partake.
What is the tour capacity?
We limit our tours to 12 people. We enjoy small group sizes so we can get to know you and offer a more personal experience. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information regarding bookings for larger groups, private and custom tours.
When should I arrive for the tour?
It is best to plan on arriving 10-15 minutes before the tour begins.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
More than 14 days notice you will receive a full refund, less than 14 days you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel less than 48 hours of your scheduled tour no refund will be given. If possible, we may attempt to reschedule your booking. No refunds are granted for no shows, and we do not issue partial credit for late arrivals or early departures.
Do you offer discounts?
Due the high quality (and therefore, cost) of the food and drinks we provide, we are unable to offer discounts on our tours.
Do you allow pets?
For the health & safety of all of our guests, pets are not allowed on any of our tours. While we love our furry friends, our tours visit restaurants and thus we are obligated to follow health department rules regarding animals.
Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
The tour guide will accept gratuities; however, they are not mandatory. If you had a great experience, tips are graciously accepted.
Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Some of our restaurant partners are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Many of the streets and sidewalks in historic downtown Salem are uneven or made of cobblestone and can be challenging to navigate across with these devices.
Should I bring any extra money for the tour?
We recommend you bring cash if you are interested in tipping your tour guide, purchasing additional drinks or any other products the establishments may offer.
Are cameras allowed on the tours?
Yes. Cameras and filming are allowed during the tour. In fact, we strongly encourage our guests to take photos throughout the tour, and we allow time for brief stops for photo opportunities.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes. Gift certificates are available and they make excellent gifts for anniversaries, birthdays, holidays or any other occasion. For more information or to purchase a gift certificate, please click on the Gift Certificate tab.
Are children allowed on the tour?
Yes, children are welcome on the tour. Please note; however, that the tour lasts approximately three hours. Parents are encouraged to assess the situation on a case-by-case basis and consider whether the tour is appropriate for their child. If you are bringing children under the age of 7 and they will not be participating in the tastings (or will share with you), you do not need to purchase tickets for them.
